Bike Town Showdown, Most Favorite Event for the New Student

Last Sunday I went to the special event at Lyngby at Lyngby Torv. I went there with my friend, Woro and Mbak Dwi. Our friend, Hans, told us to went there earlier or the line will kill us. Just kidding!

This event was supposed to be Technical University of Denmark (DTU) student but since I also the student at the university and has the student card so I and the others could join to the event. We arrived at 8 and we go to the nearest shop to buy some bakery because I and Woro forgot to have a breakfast. After that, we look at the parking area with at least more than 300 bikes. I just know what bikes, I really want that bike, then forgot. It is mainly because of too many bikes there. There is a limited number of bikes (about 300), which are sold on a ‘first come, first served’ principle. This event started at 11 am until 2 pm.

" 'Bike Town Showdown' project is an unconventional initiative, which helps the students become part of city life and offer for the more than 15,000 young people who go on a secondary or further education at Lyngby and Copenhagen, "says Caroline Arends, adm. director of Lyngby.

At the event, guest has the opportunity to:
Buy a cheap ready-to-drive second-hand bike, for only 500 kr.
Get the opportunity to fix your own bike
Take part in the treasure hunt or a short guided bike ride and get the opportunity to win some awesome prizes
Familiarize with road safety and bike maintenance
Simply enjoy a unique experience with the other fellow students!

Participating in the event is free of charge and we also get free coffee! We join the tour and we know the hidden paradise of Lyngby. We can also get the boat to adventure at the natural Lyngby's river. From the guide, we know how to ride a bike in Denmark. There are 3 signs that people used while drives a bike here. As far as I know, people using motorcycle speed when biking here. Could you imagine how the student (the guide) biking at least 11 km with only 30 minutes? Seems like using gojek or motorcycle in Indonesia without traffic jam.

Finally, we got our own bike and also we got the door prize. Thank you Lyngby for the hospitality. Let's get lost at Copenhagen!
